Day Forty-Three

Today was inspired by everything wonderful. It started with a beautiful day consisting of  bike rides, strawberries, sketching at the park and amazing music. I finally found the song I have been obsessed with for the past week, Of Monsters and Men- Little Talks and from there I found a few more M83- Midnight City and Imagine Dragons- It’s Time, to name a few. This image started at the park and was later completed back at the house on the back porch. See you tomorrow!

Day Forty-One

Similar project today as yesterday, acrylic and pen. I love parts of this color combination. As many times as I see the bright green with either a pink or red it never gets old for me. It’s the only color combination I have ever felt attached to. Anyway, I have still been basing my initial shapes off of images from the cape and then altering to a more abstract form. Tomorrow looks like it may be a great day. See you then!

Day Forty

Woohoo, another milestone! I love these small challenges of days and weeks and eventually months. When I woke up this morning I had my act together enough to start painting before work. After last night I just felt like dabbling with acrylic again. By the time I went to work I had laid down the paint portion of this image and when I got in from work I just started drawing on top with pen. Not that I can’t finish things with paint, but I truly enjoy the mark of pens and markers in comparison to something so smooth. I love these shapes, which developed from photographs I took down the cape and I can’t wait to push them further. Anyway, early start tomorrow. Have a good night!

Day Thirty-Seven

Second day on the cape, sketches throughout the day of bits and pieces…. This day was full of so much inspiration from viewing different artists at loads of galleries in Provincetown and going of a few different walks around the nature preservation in the area. Not to mention the amazing eats at the Portuguese Bakery (a must hit spot on your next trip) as well as the amazing Rum Punch (Corin’s specialty) at Georges Pizza & Pub.

Day Thirty!!

Wow, another milestone. Like I’ve said before every date seems like a milestone for some reason or another. Today had a lot of prospect but as life typically is situations arose which led to my simple sketch tonight. When I woke this morning I had all intentions of drawing for about 3 hours but my puppy got sick and well I had to bring him to the vet instead. I was being a good mom! Since we had all six puppies in this house like 4 of them have developed some issue whether it be upset stomach or constant sneezing… who knows. What I have learned is that 6 dogs might just be too much but especially when they are going to puppy daycare and being exposed to another 10 dogs. It’s like puppy preschool, EVERYONE gets sick.

Regardless, the image makes me happy, it was totally stress free and I used Jelly roll pens which for those of you who don’t know this, many of them have sparkles so in the right light this looks totally fabulous! Time to hit the hay, another busy day tomorrow. See you next month (OMG another milestone!)

Day Twenty-four

Today was such a wonderful day. Well, almost amazing minus the whole alarm not going off AGAIN (my Iphone is malfunctioning). I was meeting a friend at the gym at the crack ass of dawn and somehow made it there on time regardless that my alarm never went off. After the gym I went to a coffee shop and just sat back and tried to relax for a while before work. I put on my headphones and started sketching. My “musical” inspirations today consisted of Billie Holiday,  Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Etta James and the Dropkick Murphy’s. Nice little mix before work. I hope that when I finally decide on a gym that I will have these kinds of opportunities more often to just sit back write, draw and listen to everything around me. Anyway, this was what I came up with today, tomorrow is my day off and I’ll be off on some kind of adventure I imagine! Can’t wait to see what is in store. See you tomorrow.

DAY TWENTY ONE!

Lets be honest it is Saturday night and after dinner and drinks I wasn’t feeling the whole drawing thing but look I sat down and did a little something, which is more fun then artistic. I think I literally grabbed every colored pen I could see and just started drawing. Who knows I’m sure that tomorrow, Sunday fun day will be better. See you tomorrow.

Day Twelve

Better late then never, It’s 11pm and I’m sitting on my floor writing this post because the computer is super dead and I am way to tired to wait to post so here I am sitting next to the only open outlet I can access in my room. I tried to get some work done this morning but I ended up going to work at 9:15 and things just didn’t work out before hand. After work, which I will add was super, I came home and went for a rather enjoyable run considering running sometimes makes me want to punch completely innocent bi-standards. Once I was home, for good, I picked up where I had left off this morning and continued. Not my best but I got into it at the end when I started building off the central image. I still think the green form is my favorite aspect, but the loosely drawn circles were the most liberating. After working for the entire day sometimes it is nice to just let go! who knows maybe I’ll go crazy and use charcoal tomorrow! I’ll see you tomorrow.

Day Eleven

Today has the potential of being a very busy day so I wanted to knock these out early this morning. I was really just working on some sketches of different elements. This is kind of the thing I have been telling my self to take some time to work on and yet I kept reverting back to watercolor. It’s easy to understand why the color of watercolor is kind of hypnotizing but I was losing the images or that’s how I felt about the last couple, especially yesterday. Anyway, I’ll try to work on these types of things for the next couple.

Life note, so this is the first week at my new J.O.B. which is why I wasn’t sure how the days are going to play out, but I’m very excited for the new scenery, plus it smells amazing there, it’s an Aveda salon. It is kinda fun how I can go to work and when I leave I smell like a spa… which is good for those of us who like the smell, but I imagine eventually you don’t even notice it anymore or it makes you nuts! Hoping for the first option please! Alright folks, see you tomorrow!
