It’s like a Petri dish. I have been sick for the past few days and as an attempt to ease the sinus pressure I utilized this chamomile mixture that you put into a bowl with boiling water then cover you head with a towel and breathe in. I was sitting there breathing and realized that the flowers, petals and grass that made up the mixture was actually quite interesting. That is what inspired this piece but this is not a replica of what I saw by any means! Enjoy and see you next time!
Moving through the landscape you travel between buildings and your constantly approaching things from a different angle. I love how the color just draws you in and you start to see elements that were not so obvious at first glance. Enjoy and see you next time!
Last post of the day, I promise! I tried to integrate the cooler tones I was seeing outside into this image. Simultaneously, there was a documentary on a mountain range in California which I found inspiring and used as a reference tool. I love the mountains and cannot wait for my hiking season to begin. I only hike from Spring to mid fall as I do not own the winter gear but have always been in awe of those who are brave enough to go out. They must experience such quiet calm moments along the way. When hiking the mountains I find that my favorite moments are when I can hear nothing else but the wind passing through the trees. Enjoy and see you next time!
The color in this seemed bright to me at first but the more I stare at it the more it seems to grow on me. I really think that the Snowmageddon we have all been experiencing has forced many of us into this mental frenzy of dreaming about spring. Whether it be the imagery or the colors I feel that my work has absolutely started to embody this. Enjoy and see you next time.
Doodles that start at work are sometimes exactly what you need to get ideas flowing. They serve as a mindless drawing and once you tune in may develop into something more. I really enjoy the elements that make up this drawing. The combination of pen, highlighter and paint make for an interesting variation. Another New England Day has arrived and with it more snow. The Winter has officially come to that point where every time I see a snow flake I want to lay down where ever I am and throw a royal tantrum. I’m fully aware that I live in New England and that snow is a part of our winters here but for all of you who keep saying “you should be used to this by now” just know that I am on the verge of punching you in the face. The image below I believe came from my subconscious. Initially based off mound of good old White Powder the warming forces have now encompassed them and force them into a warming spring-like environment. I hope Spring pops out soon from behind whatever massive snow bank it is currently hiding behind. Enjoy and see you next time.
For those of you that are not aware, New England has had an astronomical amount of snow, 6 feet in two weeks to be exact. Having grown up here I consider myself a true New Englander but this would test a lot of people. I will say that I have had more snow days in the past two weeks than ever before in a season granted if we were to really get into it, I just work for a better company now that seems to understand that my job is not worth risking my life. Thank you current employer! Anyway, this image started with a rant about snow which quickly developed into something else. In the process of clearing out my house of snow I have started sculpting the snow into unnatural shapes but there is something about the idea of taking what is natural and tweaking it a bit to make you stop and question whether it could actually have occurred naturally or had a helping hand. I always think back to playing at the beach or in the woods where out of human habit we pile things up or lay things down. After a while it become part of the surroundings but there is still an unnatural quality to it. Enough. Enjoy and see you next time.

I was lucky enough to spend my weekend at my favorite seaside home, not mine but mi madres. There was loads of tea and yummy baked goods, nighttime fires and painting! The above image is a continuation of my other work. Still playing with shadow and a sense of being overwhelmed. This piece was a bit less emotionally chaotic since I was in a rather calm place when painting. Oddly enough I think the anxiety I was experiencing during the other painting made it a stronger piece. Either way the piece taught me more and I consider it complete. There is something I completely love about the greenery in the bottom left corner…. Enjoy and see you next time!
Tonight’s image started as something entirely different about a month ago and I used that under-painting to help develop the final image. I suppose its really just a study of shape and color. I do enjoy the piece but it feels like a piece of a complete image maybe due to its size or elongated shape. Either way Enjoy and See you next time.
