Two Hundred Fifty-Six!

The project of the day was portraits of a few of my favorite woodland creatures. this included a Chipmunk, Raccoon, Beaver and Deer. I think its interesting how some took on so much character while others are merely an image of a furry creature. Practive makes perfect right?

Two Hundred Thirty-Five

Not my typical imagery, but needless to say it happened. I’m not exaclty sure what I was going for in this image either considering the sky appears to be on fire, maybe post apocolypse? If so I hope I live in a cozy cottage like this when it all goes down. I do know this happened after going to a tiny B&B in Ireland which was nestled between two “mountains” also know as large hills, not covered in trees but sheep instead. Oddly enough my experience there was rather good minus the grumpy woman who yelled at me to come down to breakfast…. doesn’t she understand we were on vacation, sleeping in from the previous nights festivities? Enjoy and see you next time.

Two Hundred Twenty-Seven

Since I am somewhat bogged down in the apartment today, trying to kick this obnoxious head cold I was left with little to do. I finished the first season of Orange is the New Black last night so with no TV show to turn to the next best relaxing option was to paint. Granted imagery was not popping into my brain the way I would have liked it, I drew from my past obsessions, rocks, caves and a good bit of shading of course. Now the colors are once again looking a little too rainbow-ish for me, but I’m working on that! Enjoy and see you next time!

Two Hundred Twenty-Six

Yesterday was a rather frustrating day. I was preparing for a hike up Mt Katahdin in Maine and after quite a bit of arranging, I started to come down with some sort of bug Thursday morning, which by no means settled yesterday. Needless to say I had to cancel the trip because hiking for 11 hours, then driving home for 6, just didn’t seem like a smart decision in my current condition. Not to mention my husband was in way worse shape then I was with this bug and was absolutely not going to be able to hike. I came home yesterday in the pouring rain, which I love and situated the apartment so I could sit and stare out the window. I started sketching based off of different items in my line of vision and well this was the outcome. Not too much but it is fun to draw so carelessly. Enjoy and see you next time.

So I am out of paper currently, well at least the type I prefer, so I decided to back track through sketches I has started and given up on and morph them into something new. This was the beginning of one of the tattoo ideas I has made for Liam. It never even came close to being done nevermind make the cut so I decided it was the perfect base image. The other bits were added with the intent of having even more added into the image. Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

Another day another image… trying to stay on track is all. I like the different elements collaborating in this image, although it’s still not finished. Seems as if I never “finish” anything… not sure how I feel about that.

One Hundred Ninety-One and Ninety-Two….

This is different stages of the same image, it still is not entirely complete but it is moving in the general direction. What is interesting is that I had originally seen this image from a completely different orientation and as of right now I’ve basically flipped that. Interesting how that happens! Anyway Enjoy  and I’ll see you next time.

It’s amazing to see myself make two postings in a weeks time…. I will same I’m somewhat impressed with myself. These came about the other night after walking the dogs at night. It’s kind of fun to look at shapes at night since things appear so unclear and your mind fills in the gaps. Now I’ll admit most of my inspiration comes from trees and rocks but it’s also the atmosphere at night, a little unsettling but very natural. Anyway, enjoy and see you next time!

One Hundred Eighty-One and Eighty-Two!

One Hundred Eighty-One…. First phase of a drawing.

One Hundred Eighty-Two… still in progress.

This drawing sits on my dining room table and I have just been slowly working on the image in the same style I was painting there for a while. Starting with a central image and building. The image always grows so naturally that it looks as if I knew what I wanted to do in the beginning, which is rarely the case! I’m going to start working on a painting soon which I was asked to do for a family member. I think it is going to be a great challenge because it needs to be quite large for the wall that it will be placed on. Also, I’m currently working on the other half of Liam’s tattoo but I refuse to show any images until its completed in on his arm. Opinions on tattoos are WAY too strong!

One Hundred Seventy-Eight, Seventy-Nine, Eighty!

So as some of you might already know, I have SO not been posting and this is due to two separate factors. One and the most influential has been moving house and two has been a lack of time management. Now that we have been settled for a couple of weeks now I’m hoping to get back into some kind of schedule since that seems to be such a competing factor with producing artwork. This weekend, Lee and I took off down to Hull so he could do some repairs while I took some time to regroup. The following three images are by far not more normal type of imagery, but I was kind of just drawing what I wanted. Halloween is around the corner and I think that was influential as well as Miss. Gracie’s surgery. The result is Miss Gracie wearing a ridiculous donut around her head which I of course interpreted it as one of those clown collar things. Enjoy, and I’ll see you next time.
