Day Ninety!

Today was such a wonderful Sunday, went for a morning bike ride, went to the beach, dinner with the family, and a walk on the sea wall to finish off the day. I was able to dedicate a nice chunk of time to this painting although it is rather small. I’m excited to have been producing these small paintings just before open studios next Sunday. This image is a combination of the shapes I’m working with, as you can probably see, clusters of mushrooms, fins rocks, webs, and petals. See I work on more than just rock images! Anyway, enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow! BTW can we believe it is July already? Mental right!

Day Eighty-Eight!

Well that’s a fun number, although it is ridiculously even for me. Normally I am not an even kind of person. It’s like symmetry, it drives me insane. They say that people are drawn to very symmetrical people but I think that would bother me. I mean for example I am happy to say that my face is NOT symmetrical, the main difference that I can see is in my eyes, although it is slight it seems like one is a bit more open and the freckles don’t match… I mean the freckles in my eye not on my face. Anyway, as you can see my images are typically far from symmetrical. There is one thing I would like to conquer or at the very least attempt, to put these in a space or on a surface. They currently appear like objects or icons, strange but iconic. Actually on another note they would be amazing built-in 3D (NEXT PROJECT).  Anyway, enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Day Eighty-Seven!

Another late night Thursday posting. I wish I could get into the habit of working on pieces in the morning and posting at a reasonable hour but it just doesn’t seem to be my style. Anyway, back at the acrylics, loving the end results. I’ve had a few comments about the color and the richness which has been kind of nice to hear. On another note, OPEN STUDIOS is creeping up on me. July 8th which is a Sunday I will be showing artwork at my studio in Hull, MA. Please visit http://www.hullartists.com for more information. I always love doing open studios, not even because it gives me the opportunity to sell some of my work but really it gives me a deadline and me and deadlines work REALLY well together. Anyway, for any locals out there hope to see you there. Enjoy and I will see you tomorrow!

Day Eighty-Five!

So a continuation from Day eighty-three, another acrylic growth. Started with a central mark and just allowed it to evolve around that. I added the green to give it another element but I wish I had worked it a bit more. I guess it is all a learning experience. For instance today at work, LEARNING EXPERIENCE, unlike when you work for a major company you are forced to become a jack of all trades with small business. You learn how to be the IT girl while also schooling people on what hair and makeup products will work best for them and cleaning up flash flooding incidents. A whole lot of chaos, but it is making me a much more well-rounded person. A learning experience everyday, in both the art and working world! Haha, lets see what tomorrow brings.

Day Eighty-Three!

Today was a crazy weather day, I feel like we had like 3 seasons all in a matter of hours. After work it was gorgeous so I set out with miss BooBoo (my dog) and the next thing I know the sky is opening up and it is raining like crazy. So me and Boo booked it back to the house just in time for the power to go out. I decided that it was a great time to start painting my image for the day since I wasn’t about to be doing much else. I really like the painting, I just kept watching it grow outwards. I can’t wait to try this again. Anyway Enjoy and I will see you tomorrow!

Day Sixty-One!

Just a quickie after work! Not too crazy about this image but it will do for today. I loved how it looked before I added the pen and once I added the pen I just kept adding… it is kind of like word vomit but in painting/drawing terms. Well enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Day Fifty!

Look at that 50 drawings down, only 315 more to go, whats up!! Today I followed yesterdays image style and did something similar. They are nice quick ideas that evolve almost instantly and I love the over all look. With this particular image I liked it a lot more before I added the red but I guess I would never know that if I had not tried it, so I learned that little fact!

Today was an awesome day by the way. I went for a bike ride along the beach with the hubby, then got to celebrate one of my besties (Meagan’s) Bridal shower and meet her fab mom, enjoy a drink with my Hull girlies by the grill and finished off with a walk on the beach. Beautiful Sunday right? No complaints here, it makes for a very inspiring day! Enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Day Forty-Nine!

Today was one of those days where my entire goal of the day was to get outside and what ends up happening is at 7:50pm I realize I still have not managed to actually enjoy the day outside. I mean I was busy with work and the gym and this drawing but now well I guess the time has come to finally sit on the back porch and indulge (in Thai food and Vino). As I said yesterday or maybe it was the day before, everything seems to blend together, I did not get any pieces into the Cohasset Art Fair, but I think I have come to terms with it. I don’t think my work would have looked good next to a bunch of landscapes and lighthouses anyway (Thanks Steph!). So, the next event is Open Studios and that should be good since I’m not about to deny my own art from my studio! The piece I worked on today was just a simple sketch I loved the positive/negative with the pen drawing versus the watercolor washes as well as the soft gradations against the harsh pen lines. Anyway, enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Day Thirty-nine

When I got home from the studio I didn’t really feel like taking a serious attempt at anything today so I just started painting in acrylics (which I am not very comfortable with) and this is what I came up with. It was very enjoyable after a long day and it really just developed, I never set out with an image in mind. I rearranged my working area, because although the kitchen table has been treating me well over the past few weeks I was dying to work in an area that felt like a studio and not a cluster fluff. SO the basement got completely rearranged and before you go “BASEMENT?” it’s not too bad. I mean the lighting is horrible but I work primarily at night anyway so no matter what it isn’t exactly great. What was nice was busting out some of the old mixes on my old school Ipod (which oddly enough is still alive). There were some good inspirational tunes on there here are just a few. Enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow.
