Day Eighty-Two!

Another Day another carving. It’s funny how once I start working on images that are from relief prints how obsessed I get. Absolutely loving this stamp even if it is a bit simple. Above is an image of the carved stamp itself as well as the print of it with a small flourish of color. I have been working on some greeting cards for an upcoming open studios tour that is happening in July. I always have to have something in a smaller price range that people actually don’t feel bad about buying since it can be used for another purpose. Functional art I guess. On a side note one of my very good friends just got engaged and I wanted to say Congrats to Laura and Lee, I’m so excited for the two of you! Enjoy and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Day Eighty-One!

Well tonight I sat and started carving some stamps to use on greeting cards that I am making. The carved image was based on some kind of seaweed debris stuff, which I of course loved! I thought it might be nice to layer the image since the actual object is such a dense layer thing, I may actually need to carve one more shape to throw into the mix. Not sold on the color combo yet but I was just kind of playing it safe and working with final layout. Anyway, I totally enjoyed making this, I haven’t carved something since Christmas so I was WAY over due. I actually started pricing presses again seems like the least expensive table top decent name press I can get is around $3000. Time to start saving my pennies. I only would need to sell like a billion cards! Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

Day Seventy-Nine!

Another simple doodle as most people would probably call it. I’m loving this combination though. I think it is probably the contrast I am so excited and attracted too not to mention I always have loved a bright pop of color. Right now the pink happens to be that color, obviously. So just a quick reminder Open Studios in Hull are happening soon. It is the weekend of July 7th and 8th. I will only be participating on the 8th since one of my besties is getting married on the 6th and it is going to be an amazing time! Which ultimately means Saturday = Recoup time. Anyway enjoy and I will see you tomorrow!

Day Twenty-Seven!!!

Today was a successful day, worked in the early part of the day, got my hair cut by Karen!, bought some new bits from J Crew and when I got home I  started painting. This was the piece that I had started the background of yesterday and tonight I added a lot more to the image. I love when I can just keep building off a base element. Also, I heard back from the Hull Artist Group and got the ok for open studios and membership, which was kind of exciting! Small hurdles right! I’ll see you tomorrow.

Day Twenty-five!

Today was a sort of adventure, it started super early considering it was my day off, but I am trying to get my act together. I was working on getting everything submitted for Open studios, which I will post more about when I finally get the A.O.K from the Big honchos! As for now it is the image selections (and the resizing with the help of a good friend), applications and artists statements and bios. It always takes me forever, I don’t want to sound like a posh big-headed artists nor do I want to sound like a recent college graduate. Oh well we shall have to see how they like it! After that me and the pup went on an adventure to the vets and on the way back we stopped by The Source to see some of my besties who I have not seen in far too long. When I got home I set out to figure out which bicycle was in good enough shape to ride, adjust it the best I know how and went out. It was wonderful, minus the rather uncomfortable seat. The sun was shining but the clouds were dark and stormy. It is that perfect light, when everything is illuminated. I’ve always loved that! Once I was finally home I sat out to start my image  but well Lee came home and we headed out. Once I got back this was what I did…

As you can see I did not finished, I was distraced by dinner with the hubby, which is a great distraction. I will finish this tomorrow though. See you then!
