I love the composition of this piece…. unlike most of the others this just grows out of the space where as the others seem to extend out in every direction off of the paper. Enjoy!
Part of the six piece series I created over the last few nights. All in graphite and micron pen. Enjoy!
This was the initial image that began the obsession with that pod shape. Really it is just some fruit thing on a tree in my front yard, but it is not a life-like representation. I loved the way this image developed, it was totally organic. Literally just sprouting new elements as if grew. Pretty exciting. What will the next version look like??? Enjoy!
This image was more of an experimental piece. I would start a shape move to the next return and introduce a new element here and there. I would not consider this my favorite type of finished piece but I do like that it does not seem so static… It feels like a mash of bits from the ocean without a backdrop. Different types of seaweed or organic pieces tangled together. I think the word tangled means a lot to my work. I like weaving things together, almost in a way that would not really make sense but looks interesting. Something new to consider! Enjoy.
These images began the day of open studios but my rate of finishing pieces has decreased to like a snail’s pace… I’m sitting and pondering the next move quite a bit which is both good and bad. Anyway I began painting this pod shape which you will see in the next few images since I have become somewhat obsessed. The contrast in this image is to my liking I love the pops of color throughout the image.
Last of today’s images. Hopefully tomorrow morning will be just as productive. Some of you who have been following the blog may know that one I have open studios this weekend and I am trying to keep producing and two I fell behind on the blog and I am trying to catch up right now… Wonder if I can do it! Enjoy and see you tomorrow!
Bellow are the images created while away in New Hampshire. The trip was a great experience and although I had intended them to be drawings from life, once I arrived up there I had no real need for direct inspiration. I was inspired already. All of the images are combinations of graphite, charcoal and watercolor and are expressions of space and shape. This is the first post in which I am mass posting images and therefore there are not many close-ups of sections. If you miss that aspect I am more than happy to include them as well. Thanks for looking and Enjoy!
Images One Hundred and Fourteen, Fifteen, and Sixteen.
They are not meant to be a triptych although they do appear that way due to color, consistent size and imagery. Primarily photographing these individually was crazy long and drove me nuts.
One Hundred and Seventeen.
These image has a pink tint to it but that is not actually part of the image.
One Hundred and Eighteen.
One Hundred and Nineteen.
One Hundred and Twenty.
First Day of vacation and so far so good, this was the first of the group. It actually had no real reference from my surroundings but the whole situation this morning was so relaxing it just was inspired. Anyway, were off again. Enjoy see you tomorrow!
