Two Hundred Two and Three!

Two Hundred and Two

An exploration with Chalk Pastels, not my favorite material but the softness is quite nice. I suppose my biggest issue with the material is what to do with the image afterwards. They are so delicate and smudge so easily. I’ll use a fixative on in soon but still it does not ever seem stable enough for me. The image itself I love. I love the high intensity areas and in contrast with the less developed sections.

Two Hundred and Three!

I still like the first image better as an end result but I love the yellow-orange section of this image as well as the point where it moves from high impact color out to faint pencil lines.

Sad to say it is a Saturday night and I really never had an urge to leave the apartment so when I got bored I decided to tackle this image again. I really like the way this image is developing.  I’ve started to paint into the image, in the hopes of connecting the entire piece. I know it is not there yet but I am tired and want to sleep. I know who do I think I am… Sleeping! Regardless, the transparency of the lite acrylic washes in contrast with the super opaque color is wonderful. Interesting things are happening with the conversation between the graphite mark and the painted marks… curious! Enjoy I look forward to continuing with this image tomorrow, see you next time. 200!

One Hundred Ninety-Nine!

So I am out of paper currently, well at least the type I prefer, so I decided to back track through sketches I has started and given up on and morph them into something new. This was the beginning of one of the tattoo ideas I has made for Liam. It never even came close to being done nevermind make the cut so I decided it was the perfect base image. The other bits were added with the intent of having even more added into the image. Enjoy and see you tomorrow!

One Hundred Ninety-Eight!

Small bit of a painting, started working on this image after I finished a painting for a Christmas present. I had an abundance of unused paint that was going to be wasted so I just started painting with acrylics on watercolor paper. I enjoyed developing the shapes, maybe next time I paint I’ll finish the image. Enjoy and I’ll see you next time.

Another day another image… trying to stay on track is all. I like the different elements collaborating in this image, although it’s still not finished. Seems as if I never “finish” anything… not sure how I feel about that.

Late night drawing sessions just seems to work out best for me right now although my sleeping patterns are becoming non-existent. Regardless I am happy to say I feel like I might be back into my drawings which is huge for me. For anyone who follows this I will probably be trying to mass produce to get caught up for the at least month and a half that I was completely slacking.

I love this current graphite drawing, I am working on an additive and subtractive method to try an imitate a more painterly style of drawing… we will just have to see how this progresses!

One Hundred Ninety-One and Ninety-Two….

This is different stages of the same image, it still is not entirely complete but it is moving in the general direction. What is interesting is that I had originally seen this image from a completely different orientation and as of right now I’ve basically flipped that. Interesting how that happens! Anyway Enjoy  and I’ll see you next time.

It’s amazing to see myself make two postings in a weeks time…. I will same I’m somewhat impressed with myself. These came about the other night after walking the dogs at night. It’s kind of fun to look at shapes at night since things appear so unclear and your mind fills in the gaps. Now I’ll admit most of my inspiration comes from trees and rocks but it’s also the atmosphere at night, a little unsettling but very natural. Anyway, enjoy and see you next time!

One Hundred and Seventy-Two!

The newest project, day one. This is the newest painting I have been working on, it is far from complete and to me right now it looks like a crayon box. All of the primary colors, not really blended together well, but this is the base of the painting and only part of it really. Anyway Enjoy and see you next time.

One Hundred and Seventy-One!

After the fourth day of painting this image this is where I am. I don’t know how people paint with oils because the idea of not making changes along the way is HORRIFYING! Anyway, for right now I’m loving acrylics although I miss the richness of oils. One day right? I’m happy with the over all set up of the image, its busy but I think once I tone down some areas it wont be a visual explosion merely a wonderful color and shape experience! Below are some detail shots… Enjoy!

I do love the fan/fin element… I used it in the past and it’s always a visual success, or at least I think so.
