Two Hundred and Ninety-Three!

Sticking with the furry critters, I tackled a new rabbit friend. I like how official he feels standing so straight up. I love animal behavior especially when it contradicts their natural movement. Saying that I am fully aware that rabbits can stand like this but it seems a bit awkward. I just imagine him delivering a little speech soon arms raising up to emphasize his story. Naturally, the small addition of the bow was necessary, a full blow vest would have been ideal had I not already drawn in the fur. Next time! Enjoy.

Two Hundred and Ninety-Two!

Switching gears, focusing on some character drawings instead. I know it seems somewhat strange that I jump from totally random or abstract imagery to this but I love the result of these studies.I want to integrate the two but until then I will work on them separately. This little fellow was too cute to not draw and in regards to the wheels… I have no idea. Maybe next time he will be driving the cart these wheels belong to! That would be a pretty great image. Enjoy and see you next time.

Two Hundred Eighty-Six!

IMG_5601

I never thought I would like the end image but here we are again and I love the image I was supposed to cut up.  In these last two images I seem to mindlessly move across the page and by the end it’s become a crazy collage of imagery and pattern. It’s exciting and rather stress free. I will say I had half painted the birds ages ago, but that’s why I thought it would be a scrap image. I hated the birds originally which was why I gave up and it just sat in my scraps pile for about 2 months. Anyway, enjoy and see you next time!

Two Hundred Seventy!

A few random bird sketches. These were never meant to be more than what they are but I was just messing around and decided birds would be the topic of choice for a few. In all fairness these are not super new, but summer has been so crazy busy and I haven’t had time to really dedicate any time to this page. I’m feeling rather inspired after finally completing one major summer project, a surprise 65th I hosted for my mom! It was lovely and she was completely taken by surprise, Ill add a link soon to see some of the details. Enjoy and see you next time!

The Winner!

Above is the image that was decided on for the final Baby Shower Invitation for my wonderful friend Colleen. I have to say I have a soft spot for my little critter on the left here. He looks awfully cute! The baby shower has since come and gone which is another reason I finally feel comfortable posting these images. It was very well received and luckily helped trigger a body of work for me! The combination of the soft furry surface in contrast with the graphic patterns of the teacups was a great item to play around with. Enjoy.

The above is another in the series I worked on while attempting to find the right piece to use on my friends baby shower invitation. I suppose I have to admit that this little mouse was the result of watching the movie “The Witches” based off the Roald Dahl book, which happens to be one of my favorites. Enjoy!

Two Hundred Sixty-Five!

image

As it is finally warm outside and I feel that spring may officially be here I have decided to share a few pieces I have been working on. These pieces are very important to me and I was even nervous about sharing them due to someone stealing them, but I suppose at the end of the day I know I did them and if someone steals them shame on them. This image was the result of a request made for a friends baby shower. Although this was not the final piece used on the invitation it was a very rewarding image. We had decided against it as it felt like an Easter image and we all agreed we wanted variety in the animals depicted. As always enjoy and see you next time.

Two Hundred Sixty-Four

image

Currently I am working on two portraits of two different Pugs for a friend. Although this image definitly resembles a pug it does not look like his pug, so I guess Ill try again tomorrow. Please take that into account when looking at the images many sections were left in their initial state as I suddenly realized this pug was too fat! In the meantime, enjoy and see you next time.

Its Bambi! not really, but I must say this little deer came out rather to my liking. I am amazed at how painterly it looks considering I have a strong drawing background. I’ve always been told I draw with a paintbrush but I would say this looks painted not drawn! The one area that bothers me is that the face looks soooooo structured or skeletal, that has to do with the sketch I did prior to the painting as my reference though. Next time I’m drawing less underneath to prevent this outcome.

Two Hundred Fifty-Nine!

This is a cropped portion of an image I recently made.

image

I apologize for not showing the whole image, but unfortunately I’m not ready to. Call me crazy but I am still working on figuring out the rights to my images and throwing copyrights on them. I never really had to worry about it but now I feel more open to these kinds of problems. Regardless I love sharing with everyone and hearing the feedback or seeing that people respond well to the image.

I feel like this gang of animals are going on a trip in their green umbrella to some new adventure and all the time the sly fox is appearing to have questionable motives. So much for a cute and fuzzy story! Enjoy and see you next time.
