Three Hundred and Seventeen!

Arriving in my hometown for the weekend always allows me to take a deep breathe in and relax. I took full advantage and started painting immediately. I probably would have painted more had it not been for the evening movie watching session but in all fairness the movie was worth watching. (In case you are curious it was The Theory of Everything.) For those who may not know, raccoon’s are one of my favorite animals, I know most people hate them and think of them as a pest but I love them. The coloration or their fur is just amazing it even comes with a complimentary mask! I always thought how cool, they are born with a superhero suit on! Not to mention their tiny little fingers! Anyway, this is just another exploration of future critters that may take a more important role in future projects. Enjoy and see you next time!

Three Hundred and Fourteen!

Couldn’t’t take a night off so I decided to sketch while watching a movie. The image just started with a pencil sketch of my dog but I quickly changed it to another creature.  Not really sure what I was going for but I enjoy the quietness of this moment. The color does not help amplify that but in another color palette I think it could really work well. Enjoy and see you next time!

Two Hundred and Thirteen!

Yesterday was one of those days where I needed to go to bed at like 2 in the afternoon, but somehow managed to keep pulling energy stores from the most hidden nooks and crannies of my body. When I started painting this image I tried to tell myself “don’t worry if you do not finish it, it will still count as a day” but in the end I could not stop painting until I felt it was complete enough. Naturally, that meant that on a day when I woke up at 4am I stayed up until after 11pm only to be back up at 3:50am. Needless to say I am a walking zombie  and could at any moment fall asleep; maybe while typing this post, washing my hands or attempting to eat toast, who knows! The motivation of a treat this afternoon is currently keeping the wheels turning, a delicious iced coffee from my most favorite coffee shop in the world, Yes please. Thank you P.S. Deli for existing. Anyway, enough about my lack of sleep, the image below is another study on mice. These images are just sample illustrations meant to someday be used as reference points. Enjoy and see you next time!

Three Hundred and Eleven!

Continuing with these studies, this image got a bit more involved. Working to create a story line while practicing these figures. I love the blanket about to cover the sleep mouse. The hanging guy looks like a monkey but I guess I know what not to do next time! Enjoy.

Three Hundred and Ten!

Back to the furry critters. Not entirely sure what prompted the stacking but I went with it. Not too much to discuss, this is really just a study on different variations on position. I hope to eventually put them all together and work on a story line. Enjoy and See you next time.

Three Hundred!

FullSizeRender-1

OMG, 300 down only 65 more to go before April 2nd, about 45 days. I haven’t been able to get ahead of the 1.5 drawings a day but at least I am currently on track. I find week nights most difficult as the choice between a yummy meal, a good work out, the chance to draw, sleep or just relax becomes pretty tough. Regardless, it is images like this that remind me I need to paint. Above is the full image, its long and skinny like prior post but its my exploration of these furry critters that I enjoy. I tried to give them a story, whether that be the journey through the dark with only a lantern for light or the welcoming sight of a friend at their front door. Below are close-ups of each critter. Let me know your thoughts, I do not get feedback like my days in school so anything would be wonderfully helpful. Enjoy and see you next time!

Two Hundred Ninety-Four

It’s a bugs life….. well maybe. This started because I wanted to draw a cricket but at the time I got overwhelmed by the cricket, hence the incomplete bug at the top of the image. Naturally I chose a new bug, a beetle to be exact, which one? who knows, who cares to be quite honest. I just know that I enjoyed painting him. Maybe this is because of my recent run in with Lady Bugs. I don’t know where the come from but I always seem to have one in my house. Mind you its mid winter and approximately 20 degrees outside. A little concerning but that’s what Terminex is for! Enjoy and see you next time.
