Two Hundred Seventy-Five!

I’ve been playing with tracing shadows and in this case the shadow of my hand. It’s interesting because a shadow has no detail and in many cases can get distorted. Most of the hands in this image still easily translate but there is one which is a bit unusual. Hands are a funny topic for me. As an artist they are so important but I have always been very judgmental of peoples hands. Are their fingers to short, to long, pointy or fat? Are they old and wrinkly or still smooth and youthful? Are they hard working, do they tell a story or have they never really been worked? The reality is I love hands but this piece initially had little to do with the topic of hands. I cannot say exactly what it’s about but it is a reaction to too many stress factors. As a little insight, my husband and I are in the middle of one of those grown up moments, trying to purchase a home, and I guess I never realized the stress involved in the process. It seems funny to me that you have all these people involved to help and yet you feel completely lost along a lot of the journey. The one thing I can say is that I am learning. Enjoy and see you next time!

Dear Calla, This work of yours had an emotional impact on me, I immediately felt a meaning that you may have not intended but for me was very deep, spiritual, and real. If you ever decide to sell it, I would very much like to purchase it from you. You have a very special gift, please keep at it!!!

If we could be of any help with the house hunt or process, we’ve helped our kids through it, and my husband especially might have some helpful pointers for you guys. I’ll keep you in my prayers that you’ll find the right house and that the purchase will go smoothly! Can’t wait to be invited to a housewarming party!!! 🙂

      Hi Barbara!

Thank you for your words, it means a lot to get your feedback. The piece will be for sale once I complete the series. I’ve started working a few other pieces that play with the same ideas and I don’t want to break them up until its complete.

The house hunting has been interesting but luckily I think it is moving along. Once we move in I will def send you an invitation to join us for our housewarming. Hopefully see you soon.
